This blog is our electronic journal of the home life and adventures of Nicole & Olivia, our dogs (Vegas, Batman, and Joon), cats (Carter & Cash), and our dearest family and friends. The Beginning of Two of a Tribe
Two of a Tribe was dreamed into existence on the coast of western Washington in the summer of 2018. We had a few days to spend exploring the coast of Washington and Oregon on our way down to Cannon Beach to meet our families. We loaded up our trusty Subaru Forester (we know, we know, could we have a gayer vehicle?! Answer: yes– we also have a Prius). We threw three furry, psychotic black dogs in the back and we drove!
Packed in tight with nothing but a small mesh separator to keep our shadow gang at bay, we dreamed aloud. There is something so liberating and simultaneously romantic about the open road and knowing there are seven whole days between you and “real life.” We held hands, we drank coffee, and we caught up with each other in a way that just doesn’t seem possible with the hectic pace of everyday living.
I grew up hearing my parents refer to it as “getting out of Dodge.” I’ve grown to greatly appreciate how important that is to a romantic relationship. It is the romantic equivalent of hitting the refresh button and good God it felt GOOD!
We tooled around in Tacoma with one of Olivia’s dearest friends and ventured on to Westport (our first trip out of town together culminated at Westport and holds a very dear place in both of our hearts). While stretching our legs and helping the dogs unwind after a long day in the car, we reminisced and became somewhat nostalgic wishing we had captured more of our first trip in writing. One thought led to another and by the time we had circled back to our little, but expensive cottage* (funny story on that another time*) we had decided we wanted to create an electronic journal of our lives together.

- Gardening Tips & Pics – we have truly developed our green thumbs! We are so excited to share our garden tips, tricks, and saviors!
- Our Recipes – We are expanding our herb best practices, household favorites, and crockpot recipes big time this year!
- Life Updates – 2020 has truly been a marathon. Sometimes it is cleansing for us to sit down, write it all out, and commiserate.
- Travel journals – info on our favorite LGBTQ safe travel destinations. Airbnbs, hotels, dining, cultural destinations, etc. 2020 is proving to be all about being home so we may dream about our past travels a bit.
